You can’t do what you don’t know?

January 12th, 2008 by Kiwicopy

Hey Happy New Year to you.

2008 or Two Thousand and Great… is already 13 days old! Doesn’t time fly.

I hope you’ve had an exciting start to your year… no doubt you’ve been thinking about what you really want out of 2008.

Personally I’ve been head down working since Jan 2nd (Yep sick I know, but we have some pretty big action goals this year and wanted to get a head start.) Hey don’t feel to bad for me though as I already have 6 plus weeks book in for holidays this year. (Including my first trip ever to the USA… can’t wait!)

You got to love the life of a copywriter! It can give you so much feeedom and choice!

I love it!

Which brings me to the reason for my blog today because you see I was having a coffee with a good friend that other day. We were talking business and sharing our goals for 2008 etc.

Things were going great until my friend started asking me questions about my different businesses.

He was especially interested in how I managed to go from starting a business with nothing to creating a 5 figure a month copywriting business!

How… How… How he keep asking me?

You failed 6th form english he told me… you failed 5th form maths he kept saying!

How can you create a 5 figure a month business in just 17 months when you’re really not that smart?

Well it’s true I’m not that smart… well not when it comes to Shakespare and Algebra (even had to look up Google just to check to the spelling).

But I am smart when it comes to investing in myself… in fact my friend was a little shocked when I told him how much I already spent on my business education in 2008.

You see the simple fact is… “You can’t do what you don’t know?”

Sounds very simple… doesn’t it?

Well that’s because it is. You see can’t create a 5 fiqure a month business unless you discover how to do it!

That’s when the penny dropped for my friend… well at least I think it did? I hope it did.

Quite frankly this is the greatest gift you can give yourself. Investing in yourself education will help you create the life you’re always dreaming about… a life that give you the freedom to do, be and have what you want in your life.

I am completely serious here. You are worth more than you think right now, you my friend owe to yourself to be the best you can be and to stand on the shoulders of giants in order to help you get there.

That’s why I invest so much time and money in self education… the funny thing is the more I learn the more I create the better the lifestyle I have. It’s a win/win.

Hey by the way you have no excuses either because you don’t need money to self edcuate yourself because in most places around the world you can go to the library for free. Thats right no excuses!

So what are you’re thoughts on this subject?

Do you think investing money in yourself is a waste of time and money?

or

Is it the greatest gift you can give yourself?

Love to hear you’re thoughts, please post them in the comments section.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

P.S. If you want to know the first book I read on copywriting just ask? It could be the one thing that sets you on your journey to creating a 5 figure a month copywriting business.

Will you get part of this growing pie in 2008?

December 19th, 2007 by Kiwicopy

Kia Ora,

Scott Wilson here, hey as you start to run down the clock on 2007, I wanted to give you a quick heads up about what’s happening with online spending In New Zealand (Where I live) and in USA.

The main reason for sharing this info is basically a follow on from my previous blog post… and to let you know the taxi driver was dead wrong!

Here’s proof…

211 Million Americans are now online. In the last year they spent $98 Billion Dollars on retail purchases on the internet.

Now while that sounds impressive it’s only part of the equation because on Thanks Giving Day (Nov 22) online spending was up 29% on 2006 with $27 million spent in one day.

Plus on Cyber Monday (Nov 26) a record with $733 million in sales, the first time a single day of online retail spending has broken the $700 million threshold.

Now that’s interesting?

The trend is showing the internet becoming a popular option for people to use to make their shopping purchases.

I mean even in little old New Zealand we’ve just had our biggest month ever online with internet users spent $585 million (NZD) last month on new and used goods and services.

While these numbers still don’t compare to how much we still physically spend by going to shopping malls etc, it does show you that something big is starting to build.

Every year online spending is getting bigger and bigger!

The question what are you doing about it in 2008?

Something to think about as you plan for your business success over the New Year holiday season.

Was the taxi driver right or wrong? You decide!

December 13th, 2007 by Kiwicopy

Hi Scott Wilson here, hey firstly I wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who emailed me after my first blog post.

Thanks for taking the time to read my first post and I want you to know there’s a lot more great actionable information for you to come in the following months.

Hey special metion to Mike Park who was the first to post a comment on my blog… you rock!

Today I wanted to share a story with you about something the happen to me a while ago when I was in Melbourne at Brett McFall & Tom Hua – Dream Life Event.

The reason I share this story is because I’m also going to give you some stat’s about what’s happening on the internet right now and into the future.

Ok here’s what happen… I was having dinner with Brett & Tom at a nice little Melbourne restaurant… we were generally talking shop about the internet etc and the many opportunities it will bring people in the future.

Anyway after dinner I jumped into a cab to head back to my hotel… being a friendly guy I asked the taxi driver how his day was etc.And in return he wanted to know what I was doing in Melbourne.

I explained that I was at an Internet Marketing event and that I made money online etc.

That’s when the conversation changed because the taxi driver started to advise me that the internet would be dead in the coming yearsin fact he even rattled off a couple reasons regarding why likeonline bank fraud and that nobody wants to buy online any more etc.

In fact he even told me that I should start looking for a new career! (That’s when I thought he was going to give me the pitch on becoming a taxi driver!)

Long story short – I stopped talking to the taxi driver because I personally thought he was saying was absolute crap!

I mean I’d just been having dinner with two guys who make a bucket load of money online every year. Two guys Brett & Tom who are living proof you can make money while you sleep.

I mean seriously whose advice would you take a taxi driver or two online millionaires?

As Brad Sugars say’s…  “the most expensive advice you can get is free advice from a poor person!”

Unfortunately though that’s what I a lot of people do… they take free advice from all sorts of people. (Friends, family members, work mates, bosses and the list goes on!)

So I thought I’d share some stat’s about the internet… so you can make your own mind up on this subject.

In fact post I’d love it if you posted your comments on the blog whether you think the internet is going to be dead or alive in the next 5 years after reading these stats!

Ok here goes…

* Today, 70 percent of Americans – a growing 211 million of them – use the Web on a regular basis. More than 19 percent of their homes, businesses and institutions (about 58 million locations) have broadband access!

* American consumers will spend an estimated $98 billion online this year.

* China has become the world’s second largest online market after the U.S., with more than 162 million Internet users. (Huge growth potential here: When the same percent of China’s 1.3 billion people use the web as Americans do, it will have 910 million users!)

* Globally, nearly 1.2 billion people are online – about 20 percent of all the living souls on the planet – and another 150 million or so gain Internet access every year.

*Around the world, web usage is now doubling every four years or so.

* In 2007, the amount spent on online banner, PPC and Adwords advertising jumped 46% to an estimated $19 billion.

 * Web 2.0 – where every web user now has the power to easily disseminate his or her information, opinions, photos, videos and other information online – is revolutionizing the wired world. So what do you think is the internet dead or alive? - Post your comments on the blog!

No doubt if you’re like me you’re thinking… how can I get a piece of this internet action?

Seriously if you’ve just read those stat’s and your business is not cranking on the internet then you must do something about because make no mistake this is where the money will be made is the coming years.

But they don’t just take my word for it… why not go to the World Internet Summit in Australia and check it out for yourself because for $97 you’d be crazy to miss the chance to cash in on the coming internet boom!

You see the fact is only 18% of the world is connected to the internet right now! That’s right it’s only just begun!. (More stat’s about this in my next blog).

Right now though do yourself and your business a favor invest $97 and get to the World Internet Summit in Australia March 2008.

If nothing else you can see why I know the taxi driver is dead wrong in my opinion!

First Blog… it’s been a journey!

December 11th, 2007 by Kiwicopy

Hey it’s Scott Wilson here and this is my very first blog post!

I’ve been wanting to blog for sometime but just haven’t got around to getting it sorted… mainly because I didn’t have a clue on how to get it live.

Luckily for me I found someone who’s an absolute superstar when it comes to every thing technical. (Thank you Ted… you are a legend!)

So now that I’m up and blogging I really want to make sure that I use it to help you and your business succeed. And to start this off on a positive note I want to share something with you that changed my life in 2005.

You see in 2005 I was still working in the corporate world working 60+ hours a week and hating every minute of it!

  • I hated the fact that every morning and had to get up because I was tied to this JOB.
  • I hated the fact that other people were in control of my destiny!
  • It made me sick to think that this was my lot in life… that my future was so limited!

That was 2 years ago… today well a lot has changed!

Now I don’t want to bore you with the details here because quite frankly this blog is not about me… it’s about you and an opportunity that I took that I want to share with you.

You see in March 2005 I went to my first World Internet Summit in Australia… for me that event was the start of a very profitable journey that continues today.

I’m so glad I went to the World Internet Summit (WIS) because it opened my eyes up to the amazing opportunities that the internet holds for you. (More on this in my coming blogs)!

Today though I want to share with you the opportunity for you to go to the WIS in Australia in March 2008.

Why?

Well for a couple of reasons… For one Brett McFall has just emailed me telling me he’s put together an Australian first for the WIS in Sydney next March… you’ll want to check this out!

And two because this is the event that now allows me to work from home doing what I love, when I want as much as I want!

And personally I think you deserve that right to do the same!

Click on this today to see what the WIS is all about ->  http://snipurl.com/wisaussie

Check it out and who knows maybe 2008 will be your year to do what you fianlly want to do! ;-)

Hey trust me it beats working in the corporate world any day!
